Fissure sealing is a method intended to prevent tooth decay (caries) for newly emerging permanent teeth in the oral cavity. A thin layer of material is applied to the fissures (grooves of the bite surface of the tooth), without any scraping. In the fissure, especially the deep and narrow fissures, there is an accumulation of plaque (food leftovers, bacteria) that can contribute to the rapid occurrence of decay (caries) of newly-produced under-mineralized teeth.
If your children have a new tooth, it’s time to bring them to our dental office for a quick procedure. If the tooth is still healthy, it is recommended to seal.
Always follow the rule: “It is better to prevent it, than to cure it.”
